Premier League clubs could join the race; Liverpool not concrete so far. What is clear is that Gordon is a top-end talent that will come with a top-shelf price tag. There will be competition for Gordon (primarily from Arsenal and Liverpool), so if Bayern Munich wants him it might have to pay a premium to get him. How high do they want to go for a guy, who — on paper — appears to be the exact kind of fit they need for the attack. Lighting fast, versatile, and with the ability to score and create, Gordon is what Bayern Munich needs, but will the Bavarians be able to get him? Moreover, is Bayern Munich willing to stretch its budget to get him — if so, how high will it go? Those are the questions that fans want answered, but supporters could be in the dark until after the World Cup, so grab a coffee and settle in…we are all going to be here for a while.

**Diomande was also serious option for Bayern**

Bayern Munich seems to heavy in the throws of a pursuit of Gordon, but RB Leipzig’s Yan Diomande might have been the (unattainable) apple of FC Bayern’s eye per Sport Bild’s Christian Falk and Heiko Niedderer (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):

Yan Diomande is the desired target of Bayern’s coaching staff for the left wing – however, since a deal is unrealistic due to Leipzig’s extremely high price tag, Bayern are currently fully focused on Anthony Gordon, with talks taking place with the Englishman’s management. Bayern’s supervisory board is currently willing to sanction around €60m to start the negotiations. Newcastle want £80m, especially with Premier League clubs also interested. Bayern have committed to Gordon and made it clear that they want him. At this stage, Diomande looks set to ink a big extension with RB Leipzig or make the jump to the Premier League. Bayern Munich never forgets, though. It would not be shocking to see the Bavarians revisit this topic in the future.

The only real questions for this game are how hard Bayern Munich goes after this game and how much guff the Bavarians will take if they willingly affect the relegation race by not playing their regulars. We all know that discussion is coming if Kompany rotates his squad heavily or loads up on youth of Bayern Munich II players. Regardless of any of that, though, Bayern Munich’s subs have proven to be very capable and should be a tough matchup for Heidenheim to deal with.
