Jose Ramirez was laying on the dirt in the batter's box in St. Louis.
Eventually, he got to his feet in some pain, and he remained working for a while to loosen himself up.
The good news was he stayed in the game, but it didn't look fun.

Ramirez fouled a ball off his front (right) leg while batting from the left side of the plate.
It appeared to sort of catch his shin guard, but more on the inside of his leg, where it likely didn't provide a whole lot of protection.
When the Guardians' training staff came out to check on him, they removed Ramirez's shin guard and examined the area of his leg where the foul ball had been.
That was the first pitch of the at bat, and after Ramirez stayed in, he fouled a pitch off before grounding into a double play.
It was a slow grounder that Ramirez may have normally beat out.
In this case, he was a step too slow, and he limped off toward the other side of the diamond.
Ramirez was the DH on this day, so he didn't have to remain in the field and instead hobbled to the dugout.
It seems likely he'll stay in to keep hitting, but it'll be something to keep an eye on after the game, too.
