STARKVILLE β Mississippi State baseball is on the bubble for hosting an NCAA Tournament regional at Dudy Noble Field.
The No. 11 Bulldogs (31-10, 10-8 SEC) are on a five-game winning streak after defeating Memphis, 6-2, on April 21. But that came after back-to-back weekends of getting swept at Dudy Noble Field by Georgia and Tennessee.
MSU hosts LSU (24-18, 6-12) for a three-game series starting April 24 (6 p.m., SEC Network+) for Super Bulldog Weekend.

D1Baseball projects Mississippi State as a No. 2 seed in the Hattiesburg Regional with Southern Miss as the host. Purdue is the No. 3 seed with Wright State as the No. 4 seed. The Bulldogs split their two midweek games against Southern Miss this season.
Baseball America has its projection flipped with MSU as the host and Southern Miss as the No. 2 seed. NC State is the No. 3 seed with Fairleigh Dickinson as the No. 4 seed.
The Bulldogs won the 2017 Hattiesburg Regional before losing to LSU in the super regional.
Both projections were made before the April 21 games.
Mississippi State has an RPI of No. 18 as of April 22.
The Bulldogs are 6-7 in Quad 1 games, 6-3 in Quad 2 and 19-0 in Quads 3 and 4. They are ranked No. 33 in strength of schedule.
The LSU series will be Quad 3 games.
Brian O'Connor is a first-year coach at Mississippi State, so it hasn't played in the NCAA Tournament with him. MSU won the 2021 national championship under coach Chris Lemonis, but he was fired during the 2025 season.
Mississippi State has made the NCAA Tournament in the last two seasons as No. 2 seeds, losing in the Charlottesville Regional final and the Tallahassee Regional final.
O'Connor was the Virginia coach for 22 seasons, reaching 18 NCAA Tournaments, nine super regionals, seven College World Series and winning the 2015 national championship.
