After dropping a second straight SEC series, Texas softball fell one spot to No. 5 in the national rankings.
Oklahoma, which won two out of three games in Austin this past weekend, took over the top spot with 12 first-place votes and 747 points in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll released Tuesday. The Sooners leapfrogged No. 2 Texas Tech, which also had 12 first-place votes but 745 points.
Texas (33-6, 10-5 SEC) dropped behind Florida as well as other SEC rival Alabama after 648 total points.
The latest rankings reflect the SECâs continuing dominance. Six of the top 10 teams come from the conference, and 10 SEC teams earned a spot in the poll. Texas A&M moved up two spots to No. 12.

After losing the series to Oklahoma, Texas travels to No. 15 Georgia for a critical three-game series beginning Saturday in Athens, Ga.
