The New York Giants and defensive tackle Dexter Lawrence have parted ways, and the Pro Bowl defender is headed to the AFC North.
According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Giants are trading Lawrence to the Cincinnati Bengals for the premium draft compensation in a package that includes the No. 10 overall pick.
"Giants star Dexter Lawrence is being traded to the #Bengals in a pre-Draft blockbuster that includes the No. 10 pick heading to the Giants, per me and Tom Pelissero," Rapoport said on X.
Lawrence's departure from New York seemed inevitable after his April 6th trade request and reports surfacing over the last few days that his contract talks with the Giants had fallen apart.
Though Lawrence has been one of the best defensive tackles in football since entering the league, he is coming off a down year in 2025 with 0.5 sacks, and New York opted to move on from the three-time Pro Bowler instead of paying him top-of-the-market money.
As for the Bengals, the team lost Trey Hendrickson this offseason, and the defensive line is incredibly weak, especially the interior. Lawrence should help solve that issue, as the Clemson product joins Jonathan Allen and in Cincinnati's defensive tackle room.

The trade allows the Giants to gain premium draft compensation, which they can use to strengthen their roster.
Adding Dexter Lawrence enhances the Bengals' defensive line, providing a Pro Bowl talent to bolster their defense.
