The Miami Dolphins traded down in the draft, selecting Kadyn Proctor with the 12th pick instead of other available options. This decision raises questions about whether they will regret not choosing players like Caleb Downs or Rueben Bain.

The Miami Dolphins entered last week's draft with the No. 11 overall pick in the draft. Instead of using their original draft pick, they traded down with the Dallas Cowboys from that No. 11 overall to the 12th overall pick.
The Dolphins used that pick on Alabama offensive tackle, Kadyn Proctor. That draft pick was a bit of a head scratcher, especially considering who was left on the board.
Whether it will pay off remains to be seen, but now the question is whether Miami will regret it when they had a chance to take safety Caleb Downs or even Miami pass rusher Rueben Bain.
ESPN's Marcel Louis-Jacques begged the question in a recent column.
" Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan was targeting Proctor at pick No. 11 and got "free money" in the form of two fifth-round picks from the Cowboys to move down one spot. Sullivan spoke highly of Proctor's "rare" blend of size and skill, but Proctor's career will likely be compared to that of Downs and Bain, who were on the board when Proctor was taken.
"The Dolphins are confident they made the right decision, and if Proctor reaches his full potential, it'll be hard to argue against them."
As Luis-Jacques mentioned, Proctor will always be compared to Downs and Bain. Miami had a ton to address when it comes to its roster, and new general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan decided to take a player in the trenches.
The Dolphins traded down from the No. 11 overall pick to the 12th pick, allowing them to select Kadyn Proctor.
The Dolphins could have chosen safety Caleb Downs or pass rusher Rueben Bain, both of whom were still available.
The decision may lead to regret if Proctor does not perform as expected while Downs or Bain excel with their respective teams.
