Landing Trey Autry was one thing, but longtime Wisconsin Badgers men's basketball head coach Greg Gard still has another open spot in the starting lineup.
Autry will join Australian guard Owen Foxwell in the backcourt, while Austin Rapp and Nolan Winter should join them in the starting rotation.
Rapp has confirmed he'll be back, but Winter's status is still up in the air. That said, all roads indicate he'll be returning.
At this point, Gard is still looking for a wing. Both guard and forward/big spots are filled, but now he needs that additional small-forward-type player to round out his starting five.
If somehow the Badgers miss out on their top portal targets, junior guard Jack Janicki would likely fill that spot. He has the most experience out of any of the reserve players on this roster, but he seems to be much better suited coming off the bench.
Only time will tell, but Wisconsin shouldn't just be content with adding one starter. They have a pair of incoming freshman, but after they bring in their fifth starter, they'll still have four open roster spots.
Currently, four of the Badgers' six bench players are guards. That's not to say they can't bring another in through the portal, but Gard should be targeting other Rapp/Winter-style players as their depth in that department is quite thin.
