While the Wisconsin Badgers men's hockey team fell short against Denver, their national title game smashed viewership records on ESPN. ESPN PR touted the success of the game, which was the network's most-watched men's hockey championship since 2009. The Badgers vs. Pioneers game on ESPN averaged 901K viewers, which was a huge increase from the first two Frozen Four games. For reference, Wisconsin vs. North Dakota averaged 324K viewers, while Denver vs. Michigan averaged 578K. In total, this was the most-watched Frozen Four since 2002. The Badgers vs. Fighting Hawks and Pioneers vs. Wolverines matchups drew a 77% YOY increase, while the title game itself was up 52% YOY.
