John Blackwell is considering transferring to one of six schools, with Alabama being the top recommendation. Reports suggest he may narrow his choices down to two schools soon.
The John Blackwell transfer portal sweepstakes appear to be heating up. Certain reports indicate that Blackwell might be down to just two schools, while others indicate the list might be as large as six programs.
Either way, it appears that Blackwell will land at either Alabama, Arizona, Illinois, Duke, Louisville or UCLA.
While any player would love to have such impressive options, Blackwell should focus his attention on Alabama.
Crimson Tide head coach Nate Oats has consistently churned out one of the more explosive offensive teams in the country and has given guards like Labaron Philon and Latrell Wrightsell the green light to push the pace.
USA TODAY Sports believes Philon is a legitimate option in the 2026 NBA draft lottery, which leaves a massive opportunity for someone like Blackwell to take the reins next year in a fast-paced offense.
Blackwell's opportunity to lift a program like Alabama to a national title game appearance might be more impressive than if he did it with another power school like Duke or Arizona.
Of course, Blackwell's days in college might also be numbered, considering he also entered his name into the NBA draft.
Regardless of whether Blackwell ends up at Alabama, another school or the professional ranks, the 6'4" has shown that he can space the floor as a difference-making shot-creator.
