The 2026 PBR World Finals kicked off last night at the Cowtown Coliseum in Fort Worth, TX. The bulls came ready to buck and fight, with only 8 riders being able to secure qualified rides. In a shock, World no. 1 and 2, John Crimber and Bradly Fielder, were both forced down in under 3 seconds, unable to secure qualified rides on night 1 of the PBR World Finals. This puts to two highest-charting riders at the bottom of the docket to pick their bulls going into night 2.
However, the world no. 3, Sage Kimzey, showed up and showed out, securing the highest-scoring ride of the night with a 90.5-point ride on Short Fire. This was Kimzey’s sixth 90-point ride of the 2026 season and marked the nineteenth 90-point ride of his PBR career.
After battling with a shoulder injury earlier in the season, Sage decided to take a week off to rest and recuperate; this calculated decision has continued to pay off as Sage has been climbing the board and racking up event wins after event wins in the 2026 season. He remarked on this calculated rest during an interview after his ride and said that his body feels strong and rested, ready to fight for the World Champion title.
Tonight’s first-place finish gives Kimzey an immense advantage going into night 2, as he will get first pick of his bull. This means that Sage will have the biggest selection and pool to pick from, giving him the most options for a bull that plays into his strengths and has the most opportunity to produce another high score as the 2026 finals continue.

Sage Kimzey scored 90.5 points on his ride with Short Fire.
Both John Crimber and Bradly Fielder were unable to secure qualified rides, falling in under 3 seconds.
