Barcelona faced off against Atletico Madrid at the Wanda Metropolitano earlier tonight as they hoped to secure a win on the road in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash. The Catalan club made a dream start to the game as they grabbed the lead in the fourth minute when Lamine Yamal found the back of the net. Ferran Torres doubled his team’s advantage in the 24th minute, but Ademola Lookman got a goal back for Barcelona just seven minutes later. Hansi Flick’s men went into the half-time break 2-1 up on the scoreline.
Barcelona pushed on to level the score on aggregate but found themselves at a numerical disadvantage in the 79th minute when Eric Garcia was sent off by the referee. The Catalan giants ended up securing a narrow 2-1 win at the Nou Camp, but got knocked out of the Champions League after losing the tie 3-2 on aggregate.
