During spring practice, we are constantly looking for little nuggets of information or indicators of who could potentially have a breakout season in the fall. There's been one skilled player in particular that has caught my eye from what I've seen and heard.
Michigan State football wrapped up spring practice on Saturday with their "Spring Showcase" event at Spartan Stadium. Following the open practice, new head coach Pat Fitzgerald met with the media to field questions and put a bow on spring ball. During that media session, redshirt freshman wide receiver Bryson Williams received some praise from Fitzgerald.
"Bryson Williams is a big player that has an exciting future," Fitzgerald said (quote courtesy of Emmett Matasovsky of Spartan Shadows). "We are very excited for him."
It's a simple statement, but that combined with a highlight tape of Williams starring during a spring scrimmage has me personally putting Williams on breakout alert this upcoming season.
Williams, who is from Canton, Mich., is in his second year with the Spartans. He was a three-star prospect in the 2025 class and recently flipped from running back to wide receiver. It seems clear now that Williams will be in the mix to see some playing time this upcoming season and potentially even start for Michigan State -- who has a wide receivers room that is wide open for playing time right now.
