No USC players were selected in the 2026 WNBA Draft for the first time in four years, with Taylor Bigby being the only former player picked, going to the Portland Fire. Despite this, the young roster suggests a promising future for the team.
Monday marked the 2026 WNBA Draft. For the first time in four years, no USC players were selected in the event.
The only player to have played for the Trojans who heard her name called on Monday night was Taylor Bigby, who went in the third round to the expansion Portland Fire. After spending her freshman year at Oregon, Bigby played two seasons at USC before transferring to TCU in 2024, where she finished her college career.
On the surface, that seems like a bad thing. When you look closer, however, it is actually a sign of big things to come for the Women of Troy.
USC was an extremely young team this past season. The Trojans had just two seniors on their roster in Kara Dunn and Londynn Jones, and both were transfers who only spent one year at USC.
As a result, the Women of Troy are set to return the vast majority of their production from this past season from this past season for 2026-2027. In addition, USC will see the return to the court of superstar Juju Watkins, who missed the entire year with a knee injury, while also adding several highly-touted recruits.
The Trojans may not have had any players selected in the WNBA Draft this year. But that is because they are loading up for next season and should be a force to be reckoned with in 2026-2027.
Finally, do not expect USCâs WNBA Draft drought to last very long. Watkins, who has two years of eligibility remaining, is likely to be the top overall pick in either 2027 or 2028, whenever she decides to enter the draft.
Why were no USC players selected in the 2026 WNBA Draft?
USC had a very young team with only two seniors, both of whom were transfers, which contributed to the lack of draft selections.
Who was the only USC player drafted in 2026 and which team selected her?
Taylor Bigby was the only USC player drafted in 2026, and she was selected by the Portland Fire in the third round.
What does the lack of USC players in the WNBA Draft indicate about the team's future?
The absence of drafted players reflects the team's youth and potential for growth, suggesting a brighter future for the Women of Troy.
