The Kentucky Wildcats are going to be active in the transfer portal.
The portal opened Tuesday, and Mark Pope can't wait around. There's work to be done, including some high-ranking transfer commitments to try and secure.
Kentucky radio reporter Matt Jones shared on X on Tuesday that Kentucky is off to a fast start, including contact with three of the most intriguing players in the transfer portal.
One of those? Miles Byrd from San Diego State.
Byrd is the reigning Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year. The 6-foot-6 wing averaged 10.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 1.9 steals and 1.2 blocks per game this past season.

Another guy the Wildcats are contacting is Jalen Haralson, according to Jones.
Haralson was an immensely talented recruit who surprised most by choosing Notre Dame. Now, the 6-foot-7 forward is one of the best players in the portal and could fit in at Kentucky.
The Wildcats are also after Kwame Evans Jr., according to Jones.
Evans is a 6-foot-10 big fella from the Oregon Ducks. In the 247Sports transfer rankings, Evans ranks No. 28 in the country.
Jones also lists these names as Kentucky targets: Finley Bizjack (Butler), Camren Hunter (Central Arkansas), Devin Venterpool (FAU), Dedan Thomas Jr. (LSU) and Tyrone Riley IV (San Francisco).
If Kentucky can land at least a few of these guys, the Wildcats will feel good about their transfer action.
