The Ohio State Buckeyes are bringing aboard talented guard Justin Pippen, whose father is the Chicago Bulls legend.
On3 Sports' Joe Tipton reported the news on Friday afternoon.
Justin Pippen was in the transfer portal from Cal. He put up 14.2 points, 3.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game this season for the Golden Bears.
Pippen was a top-100 recruit out of Sierra Canyon in the Class of 2024 who first went to Michigan, where he averaged just 6.7 minutes per game.
This season at Cal, Pippen was an every-game starter who ran the show. He also shot 32.7% from 3-point range, an improvement from his freshman season and a number that suggests he might have a bit more growth in that regard.
It's a fascinating about-face for Pippen from beginning his college career with the Wolverines.
Michigan, the national champs, actually had former Buckeyes wing Roddy Gayle Jr. on their roster this season.
Ohio State will be hoping the reversal of that allows Pippen to lead the Buckeyes on an NCAA Tournament run of their own.
Ohio State had a number of talented players hit the transfer portal, and they lose all-time leading scorer Bruce Thornton, so Pippen is a key pickup to try and keep the Buckeyes moving in a positive direction.
