The North Carolina Tar Heels' basketball program made some big changes this offseason. After a first-round exit to VCU in the NCAA Tournament, the program decided to move on from Hubert Davis.
They are now bringing in Mike Malone as the next head coach. With that, we should expect some roster movement in terms of players entering their names in the transfer portal. On Tuesday, the fifth player from last year's roster has entered the transfer portal.
Center James Brown is entering the portal after just two seasons at North Carolina. Brown was a four-star recruit in the 2024 class that also featured Ian Jackson and Drake Powell. The 6-foot-10 forward out of Aurora appeared in 18 games as a freshman with 21 total points and 15 total rebounds.
In 2025-26, he averaged 1.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in nine games. He suffered an injury that caused him to have season-ending surgery in February.
He joins Isaiah Denis, Derek Dixon, Jonathan Powell and Jaydon Young as players to enter the portal so far.
