Auburn basketball is pursuing Troy transfer forward Thomas Dowd, a four-star prospect and No. 17 power forward. Dowd averaged 14.4 points and 10.1 rebounds in his final season at Troy and could address Auburn's front court depth issues for the 2026-27 season.
The Auburn Tigers continue to add talent to the basketball team for the 2026-27 season. Over the weekend, Pete Nakos of On3 reported that Auburn was one of the SEC teams pushing for Troy transfer forward Thomas Dowd. 247Sports has him rated as a four-star transfer portal prospect and the No. 17 power forward.
Dowd is one of the more versatile players in the transfer portal, with his ability to rebound but also his ability to make shots from beyond the three-point line. He just completed his third season with the Troy Trojans, who had made consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament. When head coach Scott Cross took the open vacancy at Georgia Tech, Dowd was one of several Trojans who entered the transfer portal. Over his three seasons, Dowd averaged 10.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, and shot 32% from three.

In his final season at Troy, he averaged a career high of 14.4 points and 10.1 rebounds. Dowd was also named to the postseason All-Sun Belt Conference First Team. If Dowd chooses the Tigers, it would fill a need for the roster. A weakness for Auburn this past season was a lack of depth in the front court. He would also add some three-point shooting for the Tigers. That is an area they struggled with consistency. When Dowd signed with the Trojans, he did so as a local prospect from Dothan, Alabama. Auburn would still have him close to home if he picks the Tigers.
