On Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Lakers will once again face the defending NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder, this time at home. They lost 139-96 to the Thunder on Thursday, and now that they have lost two games in a row, they have fallen from third to fourth place in the Western Conference.
Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves sustained hamstring and oblique strains, respectively, in Thursday's game, and they're both expected to be out for at least the next few weeks. For Tuesday's contest, LeBron James will also be sidelined due to a left foot ailment, and with veteran guard Marcus Smart still out of action, L.A. will be very short-handed as a result.
In addition, backup center Jaxson Hayes will not play in Tuesday's matchup.
With a 50-28 record, the Lakers are half a game behind the third-place Nuggets and one game in front of the fifth-place Houston Rockets. They own the tiebreaker against both Denver and Houston.
