The NCAA is considering a new eligibility model that would grant athletes five years of eligibility from their 19th birthday or high school graduation, eliminating redshirts and waivers. Meanwhile, Notre Dame is motivated for a strong season after feeling snubbed from last year's College Football Playoff, and Jeremiyah Love is generating buzz as a top prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft.
So much of what people perceive how âbrokenâ college sports have become quickly point to the transfer portal and NIL payments. While those can certainly cause some issues, over the last two decades, itâs really been the chaotic eligibility cases. There are guidelines, but the waivers have been granted in a grab bag styling, and weâve seen players granted 7th, 8th, and 9th years while guys by the hair of their chin are denied a fifth year. The NCAA is looking to make the eligibility cases moot with a possible change to a 5 year eligibility model.

No redshirts or waivers.

As weâve been saying and reporting, Notre Dame has a massive chip on its shoulder following last yearâs screw job by the college football playoff committee. I think weâll see some fireworks this season, and the players havenât been shy about alluding to as much.

Without question, I think Jeremiyah Love is the best overall player in the NFL Draft this year. I also think heâs the most interesting, because there are just so many scenarios out there concerning him. Weâve heard buzz and seen mock drafts that has Love going to either the Washington Commanders, New York Giants, Tennessee Titans, Baltimore Ravens, and others. But⊠could the âothersâ actually be a bold trade up by a team into the top ten? Well â maybe.
"I think the Browns are rooting for this most clearly â Jeremiyah Love to not go to the Titans or the Giants," â @FieldYates on if the Browns will be able to trade back from no. 6.
