For the longest time, LeBron James and Stephen Curry have been rivals. In the 2010s, the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Golden State Warriors met in the NBA Finals for four straight seasons from 2015 to 2018.
Since then, LeBron and Steph have remained friendly rivals, even when the former joined the Los Angeles Lakers. Now, they are at the tail end of their careers, which makes some people anxious because Thursday would have been their final matchup ever had Curry played.
Throughout the years, LeBron has been a constant presence in the league. He has been the best player for the longest time, serving as the league's face for a while. At the same time, Steph has also been a prominent figure.
In the Thursday game between the Warriors and Lakers, James led the latter to a 119-103 victory. Curry missed another game, so he missed another matchup against his old rival.

After the game, both players looked reflective about their past. They shared a long embrace after the game, and it seemed like a heartwarming moment from afar. Considering they are older players, that played a factor for both men.
"We both didn't even realize it until, I guess, today. We don't know what the future holds, and if we get the opportunity to play against each other. We haven't played against each other this year," LeBron shared after the game in his post-game interview.
"We never know, we don't know what the future holds. It's always a pleasure, and it's always an honor just to be in his presence to be on the floor with him."
While it looks unclear if LeBron will retire after this season, it will always be sad for NBA fans to think about losing both superstars. They have been the NBA's faces for the longest time, and they will be dearly missed when they do retire.
