Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets, social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space.

This week, we begin by discussing the Mets’ play in May, which has been a bit better, but still not good enough. But as we were recording the episode, the news broke that the Mets are shaking things up by promoting AJ Ewing, so we also talked about that pleasant surprise, which saved this from being an even bleaker episode.

In the second half of the show, we discuss the extramural activities of a certain former Mets pitcher with a receding hairline, the dismissal of Gabe Alvarez due to harassment allegations, and the glossing over of Bobby Cox’s domestic abuse when discussing his legacy.

Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise.
