Crosby did not pass his physical upon arriving in the Charm City in early March. The Ravens backed out of the trade as it occurred before the 2026 League Year began and was not officially processed by the NFL yet.
The decision sent shockwaves around the league. Las Vegas had already committed tens of millions of 2026 cash toward new free agent signings thinking Crosby was already off the roster. All of the sudden, he’s no longer going to be a Raven, and Baltimore set its eyes on a new prize.
It’s why the Bengals are a little more incentivized to poke fun at their division rivals.
Baltimore backed out of the Crosby trade the night of March 9. About 13 hours later, it had an agreement to sign former Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson to a four-year, $128 million contract.
Hendrickson was already set to leave Cincy regardless of what happened with Crosby, but the swiftness of the Ravens’ pivoting has only caused more suspicion as to why they backed out of their aggressive trade.
The Bengals then watched their top internal free agent join their greatest threat to a postseason return. Baltimore barely missed the playoffs last season but sportsbooks have the club as the favorite to win the AFC North this year under new head coach Jesse Minter.
Hendrickson makes the Ravens an even greater threat than they already were.
Cincinnati’s schedule release video was rather tame compared to other franchises, but the subtle trolling of Baltimore was a fitting touch in acknowledging one of the most controversial stories of the offseason.
