After an incredible first night of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns and general manager Andrew Berry are flying high from the success on Thursday.
Cleveland kicked off the night by trading down from the No. 6 pick with the Kansas City Chiefs, receiving the No. 9, No. 74, and No. 148 picks in return. This ultimately led the Browns to select Utah star offensive tackle Spencer Fano, who was widely considered the best tackle in this year's draft class.
However, with one final pick in the first round, Berry and the front office decided to use the No. 24 pick on Texas A&M wide receiver KC Concepcion to round out the night. Cleveland failed to address the position group during the 2026 NFL Free Agency period, which led people to believe that the organization would target a wide receiver in the early rounds of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Despite Concepcion becoming the first wide receiver selected by the Browns in the first round since Corey Coleman in 2016, there are concerns about his game, with the primary issue being his drops at the college level. Still, Berry did not seem worried about the young playmaker's drops, as he told reporters on Thursday that every receiver has drops.
"Every receiver, besides maybe Larry Fitzgerald, has a couple drops," Berry claimed. "KC, he’s been a dynamic producer at NC State, Texas A&M, he’s electric with the ball in his hands, and we’re looking forward to having him.”
In addition to his remarks on Concepcion's hands, Berry doubled down by claiming that the team feels "comfortable" with his hands.
It’s really relative to the population. Like I know that gets talked about, but he has natural dexterity," Berry stated. "You know, it’s nothing extreme or nothing out of, I guess it’s not an outlier, you know, relative to other receivers in the draft class. I know that’s been the primary talking point, but we’re comfortable with KC’s hands.”
Concepcion, after spending last season with the Aggies, has proven to be a dynamic weapon in the passing game. His ability to create yards after the catch with his electric speed is a perfect fit for head coach offensive scheme in 2026 and beyond.
Andrew Berry stated that every receiver has drops, emphasizing KC Concepcion's dynamic playmaking ability.
The Browns selected KC Concepcion to address their need for a wide receiver after not targeting the position in free agency.
The last time the Browns selected a wide receiver in the first round was in 2016 when they picked Corey Coleman.

Unfortunately for Cleveland, Concepcion finished the 2025 season with a total of seven drops, resulting in a drop rate of 10.3 percent. Luckily for the Browns, there have been plenty of wide receivers who dealt with drop issues in college and went on to have excellent careers in the NFL, such as Amon-Ra St. Brown and Monken's former top receiver, Zay Flowers.
If Concepcion were to clean up his drops, playing under the likes of Monken should help due to the newly-hired head coach's experience with similar profiles to the Browns' latest first-round pick.
