Chase DeLauter of the Cleveland Guardians is maintaining a strong performance despite the team's recent struggles. After a slow start in April, he has shown resilience and continues to be a key player.
Chase DeLauter’s Mindset Over Recent Hot Streak for Guardians
Hits have been hard to come by for the Cleveland Guardians over the last few weeks. Stephen Vogt even admitted so after their series loss to the Tampa Bay Rays.
That said, one member of Cleveland’s lineup continues to produce, even after a slow stretch, and that’s rookie sensation Chase DeLauter.
Of course, DeLauter took the season by storm with a handful of home runs before the Guardians even left their first stop of the 2026 MLB season. But regression was always inevitable, and that came at the start of April, when he went 7-for-45 (.156 AVG), as it looked like big-league pitching adjusted to DeLauter and his unconventional swing.
The thing is, good hitters, and those that produce a long, big-league career, and DeLauter is doing just that right now.
Over the last seven games, DeLauter owns a .375/.423/.417 slash line, including three RBI, and just two strikeouts. He’s currently on a nine-game on-base streak, while putting up quality at-bats after quality at-bats.
DeLauter broke out of this slump with a go-ahead RBI triple against the Baltimore Orioles, and he really hasn’t looked back after that.
After he came through the Guardians with a two-run RBI single in Cleveland’s win on Wednesday, DeLauter talked about where his mindset is currently at amid this hot current hot streak.
"Just being where my feet are," explained DeLauter. "Like, I mean, whether you have a bad first at bat, first two at bats, whatever, I'll keep saying it getting in that box and and competing competing the best of my ability."
Chase DeLauter had a batting average of .156 during his slow stretch in April.
Chase DeLauter started the 2026 MLB season strong, hitting several home runs before experiencing a downturn in performance.
Chase DeLauter faced challenges as big-league pitching adjusted to his unconventional swing, leading to a significant drop in his performance.

One thing that has impressed Vogt throughout DeLauter's first big-league stint has been, again, the continued quality at-bat.
"Chase is well mature beyond his years as far as his approach, and you see it. He'll take his walks, he gets on base," explained DeLauter.
"Anytime you come out with a bang the way he did in Seattle, you know, you're going to get circled in the lineup. But Chase has stayed steady and stayed true to his approach, and that's why you're seeing the, you know, the quality of bats despite maybe the lack of hits."
DeLauter is going to continue to face adversity during his career, and, as long he continues this mindset as he adapts to big-league pitching, he'll be in a good spot.
