Birtwell, a former three-time South Shore League All-Star pitcher, continued his career at Division III Gordon College (2024-25) and Division I Sacred Heart University (2026) after graduating high school in 2023. The 6-foot, 205-pound junior right-hander pitched for the Vermont Lake Monsters in the collegiate Futures League last summer.
No cause of death has been announced. In an Instagram post from the account '@JackBirtwell_Legacy', Birtwell's sisters, Julia and Audrey, wrote in captioned post that he died on Sunday, April 11. The sisters created the account to share their favorite photos and memories of their brother.
