Pep Guardiola has jokingly thrown his public support behind West Ham ahead of the club’s clash with Manchester City’s title rivals, Arsenal.
Manchester City closed the gap on Arsenal to two points with a 3-0 win over Brentford on Saturday evening. The league leaders face West Ham in a London Derby this afternoon, with City requiring a slip from the Gunners across their final three games.
Arsenal face a West Ham team who also badly need the points. The Hammers are 18th in the table and a point from safety.
After addressing the media in his post-match press conference, Guardiola jokingly crossed his arms above his head, the West Ham ‘Irons’ symbol, and said: “COME ON YOU IRONS!”.
He’ll hope the Hammers can maintain a decent recent record in this fixture. The East Londoners have won three of their last six games against Arsenal in all competitions.
