Darren Till says he would beat Sean Strickland at full health

Darren Till has voiced his opinion that he’s a strong matchup for the UFC’s new middleweight champion.

He was released by the promotion in February 2023 after dropping three straight fights.

Since then, Darren Till has moved into boxing and agreed to a contract with BKFC, helping put his career back on track.

During his time in the UFC, Darren Till trained alongside Khamzat Chimaev, and the two developed a strong friendship.

Before UFC 328, Till naturally backed Chimaev to retain his middleweight title but didn’t shy away from acknowledging Strickland as a tough opponent.

But after seeing how things played out in the main event, he seemed pretty convinced that his best version would have what it takes to beat Strickland.

Speaking on a live stream with Kick.com, Till said:

“I look at Sean Strickland now, he’s just beat Khamzat. I know for a fact me 100 per cent healthy I take him out. I know I would. Everyone even says it. It’s easy for me to say it, he’s the champion, but I trust in my skill set.”

Till hasn’t closed the door on returning to MMA. But there are still questions around whether his knee has healed enough for him to jump back into action.

If he does come back, he’ll need to prove himself against some of the top contenders before getting a shot at testing that prediction against Strickland.

Darren Till’s last appearance was in August 2025, when he stopped former UFC champion Luke Rockhold.
