With the No. 66 pick in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Denver Broncos selected Texas A&M defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim on Friday night in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Onyedim began his collegiate career at Iowa State, where he redshirted during his freshman campaign and played rotational snaps during his second year in Ames. He started all 13 contests as a junior with the Cyclones and earned Honorable Mention All-Big 12 recognition. After seeing limited snaps in 2024, Onyedim entered the portal and landed with head coach Mike Elko in Bryan-College Station.
His impact was felt immediately on the interior defensive line, as he finished second on the team with 9.5 tackles for loss and accepted an invitation to compete in the East-West Shrine Bowl. Onyedim recorded 49 total tackles, 3.5 sacks and one forced fumble in his sole season in the Maroon and White. The Richmond, Texas, native brings a unique skillset to Denver, Colorado, with a quick release and long arms that could translate massively to success for the former Aggie with the Broncos in 2026.
One of the most impressive statistics from Onyedim's five-year stint in college football showcased his durability. The 6-foot-3, 293-pound defensive tackle never missed a game due to an injury, which proves he can stay healthy and was an integral piece in being selected by the Broncos on Friday.
Onyedim earned a 6.21 prospect grade in the 2026 NFL Combine, while also recording a 64 production score (16th among defensive tackles) and 61 athleticism score (19th among defensive tackles) for a total of 61 (23rd among all defensive tackles). He is an impressive athlete and brings a knack for using impressive spin counters and his elite quickness off the ball to slip past offensive linemen.
