The Los Angeles Dodgers may be without one of their top starting pitchers for longer than expected.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts provided an update on right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow, who has been out for the last week with back spasms, and hinted at a prolonged absence.
“He’s in the trainer’s room, working on his core, his back,” Roberts said.
“He’s just been playing catch so I don’t know what the next step is before throwing off the mound. But I do know we’re going to take our time. I do know that.”
The 32-year-old pitcher has been receiving treatment for back spasms. Glasnow lasted only one inning in his last start on May 6 against the Houston Astros before exiting with lower back pain.
Luckily for the Dodgers, an MRI revealed nothing significant, and Glasnow even downplayed the situation after the contest.
"It’s not too serious. I’ve had this a few times," Glasnow said. "Just one of those things where it’s thrown out. Once it feels better, it feels better. It shouldn’t be too long."
Tyler Glasnow's absence may be prolonged, but no specific timeline has been provided.
