Eagles-Cowboys Game Will be First Since More Than a Decade

We received some exciting news earlier in the week, as the Philadelphia Eagles' schedule is starting to be leaked.

Many people always want to see who the Eagles will play in the NFC East, but there are obviously a lot of very exciting games in the division.

According to ESPN, the Eagles will do something they don't typically do: play the Dallas Cowboys on Thanksgiving for the first time since 2014.

“The NFL announced Monday that the Giants will host the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 13 in the first "Sunday Night Football" game of the 2026 season on NBC. It will mark the eighth time since 2012 that the NFC East rivals will square off in their season opener. The Cowboys won six of their past seven Week 1 games against the Giants.

“The league later announced that the Cowboys will host the Philadelphia Eagles, another NFC East rival, on Thanksgiving Day at 4:30 p.m. ET on Fox. This will be the first time the teams have played on Thanksgiving since 2014. The Cowboys also hosted the Eagles on Thanksgiving in 1989. Philadelphia won both those games, 33-10 and 27-0, respectively,” ESPN wrote.

History suggests right now that the Eagles should win this game, if the last two contests on Thanksgiving are any indication, though these teams are much different from the ones they were many years ago. Regardless, this is going to be a really fun game for Eagles fans, and will hopefully make that turkey go down on Thanksgiving Day a bit easier.

It's unfortunate that the Eagles won't be able to play the Cowboys in Philadelphia, but this should be a fun game regardless and one that hopefully ends in a victory for an Eagles team in Week 12 that will hopefully be in a good position to make the postseason.
