Since 2020, several MLB players have been suspended for testing positive for steroids, highlighting ongoing issues with performance-enhancing drugs in baseball.
For as long as professional baseball has been around, players have always been looking for an edge. It would be nice to think that everyone did it on beer and hot dogs like Babe Ruth, but that’s a lofty and unrealistic expectation. Throughout MLB history, there has been the temptation to take things as far as possible, and sometimes, that results in a suspension. If you get caught, that is.
In a perfect world, steroids would no longer exist in baseball, but that’s not the case. Despite testing and serious consequences, there are still players testing positive for steroids. Let’s take a look at those players who have been suspended for steroid use since 2020.

The good news is that this list isn’t incredibly lengthy. Well, at least we hope it’s good news in the sense that between the education, testing, and consequences, players are simply remaining clear. That theory is a lot better than the alternative of the science on the steroid side of things outpacing the science of testing.
With so much to gain, the temptation is there, but there’s also so much to lose. Players will never stop seeking an edge, but there are edges to be found in every facet of the game. There’s no need to cheat and take shortcuts. Most players, with the exception of Jurickson Profar, seemingly understand that.
