The New England Patriots will select at the 63rd pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, potentially trading up for a desired prospect. Historically, impactful players like Carlton Davis III and James Cook have been drafted at this position.
The New England Patriots will have to wait until pick No. 63 before selecting a prospect in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Granted, this could be an area where they consider trading up if a player they really like falls on the board. They are entering the draft with 11 picks, which gives them plenty of ammunition to make a splash wherever they see fit.
There are multiple areas of need for the Patriots entering the draft, which should make them one of the more unpredictable teams on the board next week. They could use depth at offensive tackle, tight end, linebacker and edge defender. The team might also consider going after an outside wide receiver or run-stuffing defensive tackle.
History serves as proof that game-changers can be found with the 63rd pick. Patriots cornerback Carlton Davis III, a former Super Bowl champion, was taken at No. 63 overall in the 2018 NFL Draft. The Buffalo Bills also landed on All-Pro running back James Cook with the 63rd pick in 2022.

It wouldn't be surprising to see the Patriots consider trading up for the right player in the second round. There isn't a lot of depth in this draft on paper, and the team could win or lose the draft before they even get to Day 3.
Ohio State defensive tackle Kayden McDonald would be a solid pick for the Patriots if he somehow managed to fall down the board. The team lost Khyiris Tonga in free agency, and they could use a run-stuffing defender to clog up the interior defensive line.
Edge rushers Cashius Howell, Zion Young and T.J. Parker would make sense in the second round if the Patriots miss out on adding a pass-rusher in the first round. Texas Tech linebacker Jacob Rodriguez would be an intriguing prospect to add at this point as well.
There should be receiving options if the Patriots want to go that route with players like KC Concepcion and Chris Brazzell II. Or, perhaps they'd consider an eventual Hunter Henry replacement at tight end with Eli Stowers or Oscar Delp.
