Former UConn forward Ice Brady finds new home in transfer portal

Former UConn women’s basketball forward Ice Brady is headed to the ACC out of the transfer portal, announcing her commitment Sunday to Florida State.

Brady signed with the Huskies as the No. 5 recruit in the 2022 class and spent four years in Storrs, but she played just two complete seasons. She heads to the Seminoles as a redshirt junior with two years of of eligibility remaining.

Brady redshirted her freshman season in 2022-23 after dislocating her right patella during preseason practice, and she appeared in just two games this year before she began dealing with “inflammation” in her right knee. She underwent season-ending surgery for the knee injury Feb. 16.

It’s unclear how long Brady’s recovery from surgery will take before she can return to the court, but UConn coach Geno Auriemma said in February that it was expected to be, “a long rehab for her, really long.”

Brady, a 6-foot-3 forward from San Diego, appeared in 39 games as a redshirt freshman in 2023-24, averaging a career-high 4.5 points and 3.3 rebounds in 17.4 minutes per game. She came in clutch for UConn during the 2024 Big East Tournament after star forward Aaliyah Edwards broke her nose and was named to the All-Tournament team, helping lead the Huskies to the conference championship.

But Brady’s minutes steadily declined over the next two seasons. She started the first 12 games of 2024-25 but was benched midway through the year for then-redshirt freshman Jana El Alfy. She finished the year averaging 3.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in 15.8 minutes off the bench, helping the Huskies to the 2025 national championship. In her two game appearances in 2025-26, Brady averaged 2.5 points and three boards in 11.5 minutes.
