Marlon Moraes, former WSOF bantamweight champion and UFC title contender, has transitioned to a new career as a police officer in Coral Springs, South Florida after retiring from MMA in summer 2023.

Former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) bantamweight champion, Marlon Moraes, went on to become the No. 1-ranked title contender at 135 pounds for Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Now, the 37 year-old âMagicâ man can add a new entry to his already-impressive resume.

Moraes (23-13-1) joined the South Florida law enforcement agency after retiring from mixed martial arts (MMA) back in summer 2023. In addition to WSOF and UFC, the Brazilian also spent time competing for Professional Fighters League (PFL) at the tail end of his career.
âEvery time I go to work, I want to help someone,â Moraes told CBS News about his transition from fighter to police officer. âWhen the call comes, I want to be the one.â
âI found a professional, compassionate, charismatic individual who wants to serve the community,â said Coral Springs Deputy Chief Ryan Gallagher.
Moraes holds victories over former UFC champions Aljamain Sterling and Jose Aldo, among others.
