The Georgia Bulldogs have made a major change in their radio booth. Georgia football will have Jeff Dantzler and Jon Stinchcomb calling games during the 2026 college football season instead of Scott Howard and Josh Brock.
Scott Howard had been calling Georgia games as the play-by-play commentator for the past 18 years. He will continue to serve as Georgia basketball's play-by-play announcer. Howard made it clear that he is not happy about the move.
"Thank you to everyone for all the messages," Howard said via social media after the change. "Didn’t know that many people had my number. Just to clear up any confusion, respectfully, it was not my decision to step away from the football broadcast."
It is unclear exactly what caused the change. Howard along with Brock, who served as the analyst for one season with Howard, both called Georgia's spring game just weeks ago. Howard called two Georgia national championship wins in 2021 and 2022.
Dantzler does play-by-play for Georgia women's basketball and the baseball team. He will continue in those roles and previously covered Georgia's pregame and postgame radio show. Former Georgia SEC champion quarterback D.J. Shockley will continue as the sideline reporter.
Joining Dantzler is Stinchcomb, who is a two-time All-SEC player. Stinchcomb played at Georgia as an offensive lineman from 1998-2002 and won the 2002 SEC championship. He won a Super Bowl with the New Orleans Saints in the NFL.
"Jeff Dantzler, Jon Stinchcomb and D.J. Shockley share a tremendous passion for the University of Georgia," Georgia athletics director Josh Brooks said. "We look forward to many more iconic calls as they bring to life exceptional moments in Georgia Bulldogs history. We also thank Scott Howard for his nearly four decades of work for the Georgia Bulldog Radio Network, and we are thrilled he is staying on as our men's basketball announcer."
Jeff Dantzler and Jon Stinchcomb will be the new radio announcers for Georgia football in the 2026 season.
The specific reasons for Scott Howard's replacement have not been disclosed, but he expressed that it was not his decision to step away from the football broadcast.
