The San Francisco Giants, in Tony Vitello's first season, have fallen well short of expectations through the beginning of May.
There's still time to turn things around, which they've done lately with a series of wins over the Los Angeles Dodgers and Pittsburgh Pirates. But, at 18-24, San Francisco selling at the trade deadline is very much still possible.
If they do sell, Robert Murray of Fansided.com reports Robbie Ray and Tyler Mahle will draw the most attention. But, he also identified a different player, $20.5 million Gold Glove outfielder Harrison Bader, as a possible trade target.
The Giants are struggling with a record of 18-24 and may look to sell players at the trade deadline to rebuild.

"Another name that could be of interest is Harrison Bader, who was signed to a two-year contract in the offseason," Murray reports. "... That defense and the spark he provided to the Phillies' lineup in 2025 should have contending teams checking to see what it'll take to acquire the 10-year veteran."
This potential trade-deadline chip for the Giants is a very intriguing one, as this might be one of their more valuable assets that's very much worth considering dealing away.
While the attention might be on Ray, Mahle, or even the trio of Willy Adames, Matt Chapman, and Rafael Devers, the most intriguing trade chip for the Giants might be Bader.
He's under club control for the 2027 season on a very reasonable $20.5 million two-year deal. Any club with a need in the outfield should consider Bader as a trade target.
After his success with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2025, after being acquired from the Minnesota Twins, teams might be able to believe in Bader making the transition from one team to another more so than most other players at this year's deadline.
But, should the Giants trade him? It would make sense to move on from him, as he's only under contract for one more year, and with that extra year of control, the Giants won't get a better return in the future than they could right now.
Of course, it's reliant on Bader continuing to play well up until the deadline. But, if such a future comes to pass, then shipping Bader off with this report of teams expected to show interest could net a solid return.
They could save a little over $10 million, add some prospects, and open a roster spot for a young player like Drew Gilbert to step into a full-time role.
This is a very intriguing potential trade for the Giants, and one that Buster Posey and company should seriously consider doing. Bader's value might not be higher than it is now, and they've already shown a willingness to trade this season. Why not add another?
