Berks athletes secured 15 top seeds in the girls District 3 Track and Field Championships, with 11 in Class 2A. The meet starts Friday at Shippensburg University and concludes Saturday.
Berks athletes earned 15 top seeds in girls District 3 Track and Field Championships with 11 of those Class 2A, including six of the seven field events.
The two-day meet starts Friday at Shippensburg University and concludes Saturday.
In Class 3A, the top five finishers advance to the PIAA Championships the following weekend at Shippensburg. In 2A, the top two finishers advance. Competitors who do not automatically qualify can advance if they better the state qualifying standard in the district meet.
Wyomissing, Oley Valley and Schuylkill Valley make up the schools in 2A that have the 11 top seeds.
Two Berks athletes are top seeds in two events. Wyomissing’s Lily Paolini is the top seed in both hurdle events in 2A and Daniel Boone’s Julia Leady is the top seed in the 1600 and 3200 in 3A.
Here’s a look at each event for each class:
Class 2A
100: Schuylkill Valley junior Lilah Gilmore is the second seed, just four-hundreths of a second behind top seed sophomore Cheyenne Eby of James Buchanan, 12.34 to 12.38.
200: Dulce Lylte of Wyomissing is another Berks sprinter second seeded. The top seed is Nora Scanish of Trinity at 25.47 with Lytle at 25.99.
400: Eby is also the top seed in the 400 at 57.83 with Oley Valley sophomore Jillian Rogers seeded second at 60.68 and Schuylkill Valley senior Amelia Falsone third seeded at 60.94.
800: Oley Valley junior Marli Laity is the top seed but expect a battle from second-seeded Reagan Gates, a freshman from Pequea Valley. Laity’s time is 2:22.16 to Gates’ 2:22.74.
1600: Gates is the top seed by a wide margin over Oley Valley’s Julianna Gourley, 5:05.42 to 5:20.15.
3200: Gates starts her attempt for three individual gold medals on Friday as the top seed in the 3200 at 10:55.78. Schuylkill Valley freshman Matilda Walborn is third seeded at 11:34.79.
Hurdles: BCIAA champion Lily Paolini, she won both the 100 and 300 hurdles, is the top seed in both events for the district meet. Her 100-hurdle time of 14.05 is more than a second ahead of second-seeded Keira Stork of Schuylkill Valley (15.15), In the 300s, her time of 43.41 is more than three seconds ahead of Susquenita’s Claire Wechsler (46.60).
Relays: Berks teams have two of the three top seeds in the relays with Wyomissing top seeded in the 4 x 100 (49.55) and Oley Valley the top seed in the 4 x 800 (9:49.21). Wyomissing is seeded second in the 4 x 400 (4:06.79), just a few tenths of a second behind top-seeded Trinity (4:06.47).
High jump: Schuylkill Valley’s Jadalynn Figueroa (5-2) and Hannah Yobb (5-2) are the second and third seeds, respectively, behind Adelyn Ober of Lancaster County Christian, who has cleared 5-3.
Pole vault: Schuylkill Valley has the top two seeds with Aimee Frantz at 10-6 and Lilliam Emerson at 9-9.
Long jump: This event promises to be quite the duel between two Berks athletes. Lilah Gilmore of Schuylkill Valley and Clara Engel of Kutztown have both jumped 18-7 with Gilmore getting the nod as the top seed. Gilmore won the BCIAA title with a leap of 18-3 and Engel did not compete in the event at the BCIAA meet.
Wyomissing, Oley Valley, and Schuylkill Valley have the 11 top seeds in Class 2A.
In Class 3A, the top five finishers advance to the PIAA Championships, while in Class 2A, the top two finishers qualify.
Lily Paolini from Wyomissing is the top seed in both hurdle events in 2A, and Julia Leady from Daniel Boone is the top seed in the 1600 and 3200 in 3A.
The two-day meet starts on Friday and concludes on Saturday at Shippensburg University.

Triple jump: Engel is the top seed at 38-1¾. She won the BCIAA title with a jump of 37-8¼.
Shot put: Schuylkill Valley’s Darasimi Adeyemi is the top seed at 38-1½.
Discus: Adeyemi is also the top seed in the discus at 125-2.
Javelin: Wyomissing senior Georgia Delucas has the top ranked throw at 120-0.
Class 3A
100: Top seed: Ella Petrosky, JP McCaskey, 11.81. Berks top seed: 11. Layla Windley, Conrad Weiser, 12.32.
200: Top seed: Kaddel Howard, Cedar Crest, 23.36. Berks top seed: 6. Madison Gordon, Gov. Mifflin, 24.79.
400: Top seed: Kaddel Howard, Cedar Crest, 51.61. Berks top seed: 6. Madison Gordon, Gov. Mifflin, 58.08.
800: Top seed: Vivan Salerno, JP McCaskey, 2:07.57. Berks top seed: 15. Allie Darrenkamp, Gov. Mifflin, 2:20.71.
1600: Daniel Boone junior Julia Leady is the top seed at 4:54.21 with three other girls seeded under 5 minutes, including second-seeded Carolynn Main of JP McCaskey. The sophomore has run 4:56.87.
3200: Before she runs the 1600 on Saturday, Leady will run this event on Friday, also coming in as the top seed at 10:35.93. The second seed is Carlisle’s Ana Bondy (10:40.32).
Hurdles: Twin Valley senior Hailey Kilgore is the third seed in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. Kilgore’s time in the 100s is 14.70 with Spring Grove’s Ella Bahn the top seed at 13.87. In the 300s, Kilgore’s best is 44.69 with Bahn again the top seed (42.59).
Relays: Twin Valley is seeded fifth (3:59.88) and Wilson sixth (4:00.15) in the 4 x 400 with Cumberland Valley the top seed (3:56.21). In the 4 x 800, Wilson (9:41.39) is the sixth seed with Dallastown the top seed (9:28.32). The highest seeded Berks team in the 4 x 100 is Conrad Weiser (49.26) in the ninth spot. JP McCaskey is the top seed at 47.16.
High jump: Top seed: Camryn Waltman, Garden Spot, 5-6. Berks top seed: 5. Addison Nudy, Twin Valley, 5-4.
Pole vault: Exeter junior Cara Miller is the third seed at 12-1¼ with Lucille Heuermann of Milton Hershey the top seed at 12-4.
Long jump: Fleetwood junior Sophie Toucher is the second seed (18-3¼) with Twin Valley sophomore Ella Benz the third seed at 18-2. Garden Spot junior Sadie Stubbs has the top mark at 18-9¾.
Triple jump: Twin Valley has three of the top four seeds, including the top seed in Corinne Logan (38-5¼). Addison Nudy is seeded third (36-7¼) and Ella Benz is fourth (36-6).
Shot put: Wilson sophomore Alivia Noecker is the top seed with a best of 49-0 from early in the season. She won the BCIAA title with a toss of 43-10. Ephrata senior Sophia Rivera is the second seed at 47-0. Wilson junior Christina Rohm is seeded third at 39-9½.
Discus: Rivera has the top seed in the discus at 148-1, but again there are two Wilson throwers among the top seeds. Senior Maddie Henne is seeded second (140-8) and Noecker is seeded fourth (135-11). Daniel Boone senior Grace Glass is the fifth seed (129-0).
Javelin: Top seed: Eliana Schneider, Cedar Crest, 152-8. Berks top seed: 13. Aleena Martino, Conrad Weiser, 112-2.
