The Green Bay Packers have signed nearly all their 2026 NFL Draft class, except for second-round pick Brandon Cisse. His rookie deal remains unsigned, raising questions about the delay.

Green Bay Packers: Figuring Out Why Brandon Cisse Hasnât Signed His Rookie Deal Yet
The Green Bay Packers have all but locked up their 2026 NFL Draft class.
On Monday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN reported on the new deals that the Packers rookies have signed. Notably, all but second round pick Brandon Cisse, a cornerback from South Carolina, have inked their rookie deals with Green Bay.
Here's how it all shakes out for the newest members of the green and gold:
Chris McClellan, DT, Missouri Tigers: Pick No. 77 overall (Round 3)
Deal: Four-years, $7,096,070.
Signing Bonus: $1,620,776
Dani Dennis-Sutton, EDGE, Penn State Nittany Lions: Pick No. 120 overall (Round 4)
Deal: Four-years, $5,514,244
Signing Bonus: $1,134,244
Jager Burton, OL, Kentucky Wildcats: Pick No. 153 overall (Round 5)
Deal: Four-years, $4,884,000
Signing Bonus: $504,000
Domani Jackson, CB, Alabama Crimson Tide: Pick No. 201 overall (Round 6)
Deal: Four-years, $4,652,436
Signing Bonus: $272,436
Trey Smack, Kicker, Florida Gators: Pick No. 216 overall (Round 6)
Deal: Four-years, $4,586,532
Signing Bonus: $206,532
It's interesting that Cisse has remained unsigned, and one would imagine that general manager Brian Gutekunst and the Packers are going to do everything they can to rectify that situation.
The Packers came into the 2026 draft with a massive need at cornerback, and they selected Cisse with pick No. 52 (Round 2) because they believe he can be their long-term answer at corner.
The specific reasons for Brandon Cisse's unsigned rookie deal have not been disclosed, but it is unusual for a second-round pick to remain unsigned at this stage.
The Packers have signed all but one player from their 2026 NFL Draft class, with only Brandon Cisse yet to finalize his contract.
Brandon Cisse is a cornerback from South Carolina, selected by the Green Bay Packers in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft.
Cisse's unsigned deal could affect his participation in training camp and the team's preparations for the upcoming season.

He absolutely has that potential, at the very least.
That makes getting him signed even more important for the Packers. That's especially true when you consider the fact that he's basically their first-round pick from this past draft since they didn't have one due to the Micah Parsons trade.
Is this concerning?
Not really. Cisse participated in the rookie minicamp and we're still only in May. He'll likely participate in the rest of the team's offseason program, and there's a strong chance he'll have signed his rookie deal with the Packers by the time training camp rolls around.
Is this surprising?
Again, not really.
Keep in mind that, of all the contracts mentioned above, the only guaranteed money for the Packers comes in the form of the signing bonuses.
That's not the case with first-round picks. Their contracts are fully guaranteed upon entering the NFL.
In general, though, these salaries, as well as the bonuses, are all a part of the rookie-wage scale that was negotiated in the 2011 collective bargaining agreement.
There's not a ton of negotiation that goes into it.
Well, there used to not be a ton of negotiation, but things are starting to change with second-rounders.
In 2025, for the first time in NFL history, second-rounders started signing fully guaranteed deals. It's not a requirement, but it has absolutely become a sticking point in negotiations for these players, and they don't have much else to work with at this point in their careers.
Cisse could be negotiating to get a fully guaranteed deal. In fact, that's more than likely the case here.
The Packers don't have to guarantee the whole thing, but it's worth noting that last year's 52nd pick, EDGE Oluwafemi Oladejo of the Tennessee Titans, got three years of his four-year deal fully guaranteed.
Guard Anthony Belton went to the Packers at No. 54, and he was given full guarantees for the first two years, plus some extra in his third.
Belton didn't sign until July 18 of 2025, though.
The Packers will sort this out, and if they believe in Cisse, and they do because of where they selected him, it's safe to assume he'll get at least three years of guaranteed money on his rookie deal.
Until that is agreed upon, though...we wait.
