The opening duo of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan has again been GT's standout performer. Skipper Shubman Gill has anchored the batting unit with 467 runs, including four half-centuries. Serving as a reliable explosive partner, Sudharsan sits right alongside Gill in the Orange Cap race with 501 runs. The opening duo has gone unnoticed amid the fast-paced explosive partnerships of other teams, but the cornerstone of the team has been built on long partnerships, something other teams have lacked. Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill have together accumulated 535 runs in 11 innings so far, second only to Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, who have 627 runs in 12 innings. They have shown consistency in their batting, often building innings for the team rather than departing during the powerplay. Last season, GT reached the playoffs, where they lost to Mumbai Indians in the Eliminator. During that season, the duo scored 912 runs in 15 innings, the highest partnership tally in the 2025 season, where Sai Sudharsan ended his campaign as the Orange Cap holder.

Jason Holder's Inclusion

Jason Holder has emerged as the transformative masterstroke for the Gujarat Titans (GT) in IPL 2026, spearheading their rise to the top of the points table. After being acquired for Rs 7 crore at the IPL 2026 mega auction, he was benched during the first phase of the season. But when GT brought him in place of Glenn Phillips, he turned the season around, helping the franchise win 5 out of 6 games following his inclusion. While his batting contributions have been limited, he has dominated with the ball in hand. In 6 matches so far, he has taken 13 wickets with an economy rate of 6.35, the best among bowlers this season who have bowled 20 overs or more, averaging just 10.92.
