Nebraska baseball defeated Creighton 8-4, achieving their first sweep since 2015. The Huskers scored five runs in the fifth inning to secure the victory.
Nebraska baseball (38-14) commenced its final week of the regular season on Tuesday night in Omaha against in-state rival Creighton (28-22). For the first time since 2015, the Huskers swept the Bluejays to win the series, capping it off with an 8-4 victory.
Nebraska took the lead swiftly in the first, scoring on just its fourth batter before adding a second run with its fifth. The Huskers picked up another run in the second inning but then blew their lead wide open with a five-run fifth. Creighton responded in the sixth, slicing Nebraska's lead in half by striking a three-run home run and scoring on a walk.
The Bluejays remained vigilant in the seventh, putting a runner in scoring position. However, Nebraska's defense locked down Creighton's offense in the eighth and ninth, retiring six of the team's final seven batters.
The Huskers finished the night with 13 hits and seven RBIs while setting a program record with their 112th hit by pitch of the season. The Bluejays tallied just seven hits for four RBIs.
Drew Grego led Nebraska in the batter's box, hitting 3-for-5 with three RBIs and three doubles, tying the school record in the latter.
Mac Moyer drove in two runs and had one hit. Jett Buck was 2-for-5 with a double, while Jeter Worthley and Case Sanderson turned in a two-hit night. Rhett Stokes, Will Jesske and Joshua Overbeek recorded one hit each.
Nebraska baseball last swept Creighton in 2015.
The final score was Nebraska 8, Creighton 4.
Nebraska finished the game with 13 hits.

Cooper Katskee (6-2) earned the win in his start for the Huskers, pitching 5.2 innings and firing four strikeouts. He allowed just two hits heading into the sixth before Creighton got on the board with its three-run shot. Jalen Worthley and Caleb Clark combined to record the final out of the sixth, ending the Bluejays' rally with bases loaded.
Ryan Harrahill took the mound in the seventh and posted 2.0 strong innings. He threw two strikeouts and surrendered one hit and one walk. JâShawn Unger closed out the game in the ninth, going one, two and three.
Nebraska closes out the regular season up in Minnesota in a three-game series with the Golden Gophers starting on Thursday night. The first pitch is set for 5 p.m. CT on the Big Ten Network.
