De'Aaron Fox is listed as questionable for Game 5 against the Minnesota Timberwolves due to a sore ankle. He participated in the morning shootaround, but his availability remains uncertain.
On Tuesday night, the San Antonio Spurs are officially facing down the first playoff Game 5 of the Victor Wembanyama era against the resilient Minnesota Timberwolves. And quite frankly, the Spurs are very lucky the French big man didn't get suspended for his violent elbow in Game 4.
Unfortunately, the Spurs might not have as much luck, injury-wise, in the huge second-round matchup.
Starting point guard De'Aaron Fox is on the injury report with a sore ankle. The injury apparently happened when Minnesota guard Ayo Dosunmu landed on it in Game 4. Fox was able to participate in Tuesday morning's shootaround, which is a good sign but not a clear indicator that he will ultimately play.
In just the second postseason of his NBA career, Fox is averaging nearly 19 points, three rebounds, and five assists per game. He's shooting only 44 percent from the field and a meager 31 percent from the 3-point line. That isn't the best or most efficient production, but Fox's presence does take a lot of organizing pressure off his young teammates, Dylan Harper and Stephon Castle.
Needless to say, if Fox can't go in Game 5, the Spurs might not have the best backup plan beyond giving the rookie Harper more minutes.
