After the game, the World Cup winner took to Instagram with this caption: "Victoria importante y tremendo ambiente en la cancha. ✅🙌. That essentially translates to, "An important victory and a tremendous atmosphere [at the stadium]."
Empower Field hosted 75,824 fans for Saturday's game, making it the second-highest attended game in MLS history. Messi, of course, was the big draw. The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be co-hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada this summer. Denver bid to host matches, but was not selected. The World Cup could, in theory, return to the U.S. as early as 2038, and the Broncos' upcoming new stadium (with natural grass) aims to be ready in time for the 2031 NFL season.
