During Game 1 of the 1A series between West Union and Sebastopol on May 12, a wave of flying termites invaded the Southern Miss Softball Complex in Hattiesburg, suspending the game at the bottom of the fourth inning around 8:25 p.m.
West Union held a 4-0 lead at the time of the suspension.

The MHSAA announced that the game was resumed on May 13 at 9 a.m.
West Union won Game 1 against Sebastopol, 8-1. Game 2 will be played on May 13 at 7 p.m.
West Union (28-4) is searching for its first softball title, while Sebastopol (27-10) is also searching for its first championship.
A similar incident involving flying termites occurred during Game 3 of the MAIS 6A championship between Hartfield Academy and Presbyterian Christian at Mississippi College in Clinton on May 17, 2025, which lasted a few innings. The game was not stopped.
