Mike Trout Makes History with Another Homer at Yankee Stadium

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout is on a tear in New York, and hit his fifth home run in four days against the New York Yankees Thursday. With his homer, he became the first visiting player to homer on four consecutive days at Yankee Stadium. Only one other visiting player has homered in four consecutive games against the Yankees: John Mayberry in 1972.

He tied himself with George Bell in 1990, Darrell Evans in 1985 and Jimmie Foxx in 1933. All five of Trout’s homers this month have come against the Yankees, and he also managed nine RBIs in the four games. He recorded six hits in 16 at-bats, and served as a key component in the Angels’ four-game series split. On the year, Trout has a .246/.416/.594 slash line, giving him a 1.010 OPS through 19 games played. He has seven home runs throughout the year, and has driven in 16 runs as well. He also has 18 walks, which is tied for the most in MLB. The Angels went 2-2 in their series against the Yankees, and could bring themselves within 0.5 games of first place in the AL West depending on the result of the Athletics’ game against the Texas Rangers. They get back into action against the San Diego Padres tomorrow, and will look to continue to win games at the Big A.
