MSU football wide receiver confirms return for 2026 season pending NCAA appeal

Michigan State football could be returning one of its more intriguing wide receivers for another season as long as the NCAA doesn't get in the way.

Rodney Bullard Jr. had initially planned to transfer away from Michigan State after the 2025 season, but that plan has since changed and he now is intending on playing for the Spartans this upcoming season. That, of course, is only if his eligibility appeal is granted and approved by the NCAA.

Bullard has spent the spring participating in practices with the Spartans, and on Thursday he confirmed his intention on staying at Michigan State, according to Emmett Matasovsky of Spartan Shadows. Now, we will have to wait to see if the NCAA allows him to play another year.

Bullard transferred to Michigan State last offseason from Valdosta State, and appeared in seven games this past season. He recorded five receptions for 119 yards and one touchdown, and also had one rushing attempt for eight yards and a score in 2025.

Bullard has speed and shiftiness to be a threat for the Spartans in the passing game this upcoming season. It would certainly help boost the depth and potentially add another starting caliber receiver to the room if the NCAA approves his eligibility appeal. Hopefully, Michigan State will come out on the winning end of this appeal and we'll see another season of Bullard in the green-and-white in 2026.
