No. 1 Allegany defeated Berlin 6-5 in a dramatic finish, extending their winning streak to 14 games. The game-winning run was scored by Tyiss Jessie in the bottom of the seventh inning.
LAVALE ā No. 1 Allegany came back to take the lead and quickly lost it, but the Campers would not be denied.
In a tie game in the bottom of the seventh, Alyssa Rader lined an opposite-field single to right, the ball spurted under the fielderās glove and Tyiss Jessie scored the winning run from first base for a 6-5 Allegany win over Berlin on Thursday at LaVale Lions Field.
Allegany (15-1) pushed its winning streak to 14 games with the result. Berlin fell to 13-2.
The Campers trailed 2-0 entering the bottom of the fifth inning.
Desi Hilton got Alco on the scoreboard with an RBI fielderās choice, and Allegany surged ahead with four runs in the sixth.
Rader leveled the score with a double, Jordyn Sneathen (St. Francis signee) gave the Campers their first lead with a two-run double, and Savannah Walton added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly to make it 5-2 Campers.
Berlinās Sam Walker pulled the Mountaineers closer with an RBI double in the seventh, and an error scored two more and set up Raderās walk-off.
Eden Robison also doubled for the Campers, and Robison and Jessie scored twice each. Walker doubled twice for Berlin.
Walton was the winning pitcher, recording the final two outs of the seventh. Sneathen was tabbed with a no-decision after giving up five runs (three earned) on eight hits in 6 1/3 frames, fanning six and walking two.
Berlin starter Elena Ritchey also garnered a no-decision after holding Allegany to a run on three hits in five frames of work. She struck out nine and walked two.
Walker was dealt the loss in relief.
Allegany (6-0 Western Maryland Athletic Conference) hosts Southern (7-8, 0-5 WestMAC) on Saturday at 9 a.m.

SHORT GAP, W.Va. ā Bibs Felton homered and Leighton Johnson shoved to power No. 2 Keyser past rival No. 5 Frankfort in five innings Thursday.
Keyser (15-4) pulled away with five runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth.
Felton went 2 for 3 with a two-run bomb, Brielle Root had two hits, Sophie Lambka drove in a pair and Kailynn Burns doubled.
Johnson struck out eight across five innings of two-hit ball.
Peyton Kimble was tabbed with the loss for Frankfort (14-10).
Keyser has a doubleheader at North Marion on Saturday at noon.
Frankfort is at No. 4 Northern on Monday at 4:30 p.m.
No. 3 Petersburg 8 East Hardy 0
PETERSBURG, W.Va. ā No. 3 Petersburg plated five runs in the third inning and rode a three-hit shutout by Kinsley Crites to a five-frame victory over East Hardy on Thursday.
Petersburg (21-3) ā winners in nine straight and 13 of 14, the lone exception a 2-0 loss to Allegany on April 14 ā only out-hit East Hardy, 5-3, but took advantage of four walks.
The Vikingsā Gracie Carpenter and Miley Tingler doubled, Cheyenne Sites singled twice, and Shyane Tawney and Tingler scored two times apiece.
The final score was 6-5 in favor of Allegany.
Allegany has won 14 consecutive games.
Tyiss Jessie scored the winning run for Allegany.
After the loss, Berlin's record fell to 13-2.
