The Buffalo Sabres got some bad injury news early in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference playoff series against the Boston Bruins.
Noah Ostlund, the young center, got his left leg caught in a weird position.
It sent Ostlund right down the tunnel, clearly injured.
A few minutes later, Ostlund returned to take a skate around the ice during a stoppage, but he must've not liked the way his leg felt.
He departed for the locker room again.
During the first intermission, the Sabres ruled out Ostlund out for the rest of the game with a lower-body injury.
Ostlund had worked his way up in the power play ranks for the Sabres by playing well this series, and his line with Josh Doan and Zach Benson has been playing very well.
Without Ostlund, Buffalo's other three centers are going to have to get more time the rest of the way.
It'll require some improvisation from head coach Lindy Ruff, and some grinding from the Sabres, but surely they'll have the energy as they play on their home ice trying to win a playoff series for the first time in nearly two decades.
