Pep praise for 'incredible' Doku
Pep Guardiola says Jeremy Doku has become one of the hardest wingers to come up against in world football.
The brilliant Belgian followed up a wonderful performance against Everton last Monday with another scintillating display against Brentford.
His superb goal on the hour set the Blues on our way to a vital 3-0 victory against a dogged and determined Brentford side.
City have again narrowed the gap to leaders Arsenal to just two points ahead of their trip to face West Ham on Sunday afternoon.
Asked if Doku had developed into one of the most dangerous forwards in world football, Pep said: “Yes absolutely I completely agree. Always he had this ability when he has the ball, to drop the team with the dribbles but we miss maybe the last pass or the goals.
“But this season he made an incredible step forward, which players must do. To try to get better and better.
“It belongs absolutely to him the confidence to try it. Always against good teams you need good players up front, not just Erling and look at Omar today.
“Attacking midfielders and wingers they need to make actions like that to win games.
“You want to become a better player; you have to win games for yourself. It’s not enough to do a good action, a cross, you have to win games.

“He scored a goal with his right foot against Everton [to make it] 3-3, but before that the first goal was his left.
“Now I have the feeling that if he goes there they will try to block shots and not leave the space to do it and now he has to be clever to shoot or make an extra pass, and another player will be free.
“Everyone knows it, it’s not necessary to tell you that he made an incredible step. He said, ‘I’m Jeremy Doku and I’m going to win games’. The greatest players always have this mentality.”
The boss also praised Doku’s work-rate, fitness and willingness to help his team-mates out defensively, adding: “It’s always a doubt that we have with Jeremy when we have four or five days of recovery.
“He’s incredibly professional and I think his soul is now so calm. [In] his own life, he’s so religious.
“His pace helps us as well. When it’s November, December, every three days and there is no break, always there’s a question mark a little bit.
“Big teams like City and especially in Europe you have to have a depth of squad and all the players let them play.”
