Player Ratings: Fiorentina 1-0 Lazio â Cancellieri Squanders his Chance
Maurizio Sarriâs numerous changes didnât pay off on Monday evening, as Lazio fell short against Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi.
Robin Gosens broke the deadlock in the middle of the first, and the visitors werenât able to respond. So, here are our player ratings for the Biancocelesti, who lost for the first time in five outings.
Edoardo Motta â 6
The Lazio goalkeeper couldnât get across in time to save Gosensâ well-placed header. Otherwise, he was always alert to the danger, but didnât have to make too many saves.
Manuel Lazzari â 5.5
The right-back carried the ball forward successfully on a few occasions early in the match, and he also made some important interventions. However, his performance was plagued by his lost aerial duel against Gosens on the winner.
Alessio Romagnoli â 6.5
A rock-solid display from the experienced defender who made a string of interventions at the back. Didnât deserve to be on the losing side.
Oliver Provstgaard â 6
Aside from a few nervy moments, the young Dane held his own at the back against Roberto Piccoli and Co.
Nuno Tavares â 5.5
The Portuguese left-back failed to block Jack Harrisonâs cross, which ended up being the assist for Gosensâ winner. Darted forward several times as expected, but didnât provide quality service for his teammates in attack.
Toma Basic â 5.5
The Croatian lasted 45 minutes on his return to action after a two-month hiatus. While he didnât embarrass himself, he was no match for Che Ndourâs pace and physicality.
Patric â 6
The defender-turned-Regista ran more than any other player on the pitch, and managed to win back possession for Lazio on several occasions, but couldnât provide the required flair in the middle of the park.
Kenneth Taylor â 5.5
The former Ajax man combined well with Zaccagni at times, but was less lively than usual. Perhaps he wasnât in his best physical shape.
Matteo Cancellieri â 5
The Italian winger wasted a rare starting opportunity. He had the chance to break the deadlock from close range, but his effort was too tame. He also lost track of Gosensâ run ahead of Fiorentinaâs goal. Pulled off a timely sliding tackle on Ndour, but he had already caused enough damage at that stage.
Boulaye Dia â 5.5
The Senegalese striker had a positive start, setting up a nice chance for Zaccagni, and produced some decent flicks. However, the timing of his runs to the box wasnât always on cue, and he faded as the match progressed.
Mattia Zaccagni â 6
The Lazio captain was a surprise inclusion in the starting lineup and almost scored after two minutes, but his curler was denied by David De Gea. He caused some havoc on another one or two occasions, but he remains far from his best, and thus made way for Noslin at half-time.
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru â 5.5
The Nigerian was introduced at half-time when Lazio were chasing the game, but he was almost a passenger whenever the team pushed forward.
Tijjani Noslin â 6
The Dutchman tried to win a cheeky spot-kick. He managed to convince the VAR, but not Michael Fabbri. Nevertheless, it was a lively cameo from the versatile forward.
Pedro â 5.5
The veteran lost his cool in the final minutes as he went lunging into Piccoli while Fiorentina were running down the clock around the corner flag. He was lucky to escape with only a yellow card. Tested De Gea with a long-range shot, but couldnât trouble his compatriot.
Gustav Isaksen â 6.5
A positive cameo from the Dane, who was able to feed his teammates with decent crosses from the right side. Added a much-needed burst of energy to the right wing.
Petar Ratkov â N/A
Fiorentina won the match against Lazio with a final score of 1-0.
Robin Gosens scored the only goal for Fiorentina in their match against Lazio.
Before losing to Fiorentina, Lazio had not lost in their last four matches.
Maurizio Sarri made numerous changes to the lineup, but they did not yield a positive result against Fiorentina.
