An outstanding string of commitments landed by Michigan over the past couple weeks may not be over just yet. Having already secured pledges from a quartet of four-star prospects this month alone — including two in the past couple days from wide receiver Quentin Burrell and defensive lineman Xavier Muhammad — the Wolverines are pushing for another who’s set a decision date for this weekend.
It’s been reveled that four-star running back Tyson Robinson, out of Jackson (Miss.) Brandon, will pick between the likes of Michigan, Alabama, Tennessee, Arizona State, Miami and others on Saturday at noon. A long-time priority target for the Wolverines, things are currently trending upward.
The timing of his commitment indicates that a full slate of official visits likely won’t be on the docket, meaning he’s already found his future home. Could that be Ann Arbor? Before developments occurred in Robinson’s recruitment, Michigan moved the needle enough to stake its claim among the suitors. Now, it appears like the Wolverines did what they needed to do to stand alone at the top.
The foundation began with running backs coach Tony Alford, who flew down to Mississippi’s State Capitol to see Robinson at his school during the winter contact period. Once March rolled around and Michigan opened up spring camp, Alford hosted Robinson twice at Schembechler Hall. Amplifying the importance of two trips north is certainly justified, but what’s unique about this case is that Robinson’s visits occurred in back-to-back weeks.
Adam McCann, who is the recruiting mentor of Robinson, went with the latter on one of the visits and spoke highly on Michigan to The Wolverine.

“With his goals and what he wants to do, with the teaching that Tony does, it is like a match made in heaven, like how it was for Savion,” McCann said. “He’s not chasing the big bucks, he’s not chasing the big logos, he’s chasing relationships.”
Once Robinson made it official in late April that he will be shutting down his recruitment, momentum flooded to Michigan to earn its first running back commit of the 2027 class. Of the nine pledges so far, five are projected to play offense, including Top 100 in-state offensive lineman Jakari Lipsey, who committed on May 2.
Should Michigan win out, it would mean another productive running back at the prep level coming into the program to learn under Alford, who’s proven to be a high-level developer of football players on-and-off the field. Robinson, who dealt with injuries and missed four games last season, is striving to finish his career at Brandon High with another 1,000-plus-yard campaign. Over the past two years, he compiled 341 carries for 2,345 yards and 43 total touchdowns.
Maize n Brew is comfortable with where the Wolverines stand heading into Saturday. The work put in by Alford this entire offseason to solidify Michigan’s chances, along with Robinson being provided an opportunity to learn and grow under the likes of Jordan Marshall and Savion Hiter, are the perfect pairing.
At 5-foot-10 and 200 pounds, Robinson is listed as the No. 211 overall prospect, No. 14 running back and No. 8 player in Mississippi, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. His official visit to Michigan is scheduled for the weekend of June 12-14.
